The Bass Factor

If you are a dance music fanatic and have not yet given up on radio, you have likely found yourself flicking through stations saying "shit, next, urgh … news, gaza, basic, mainstream shit, just give me god damn EDM!” at this point you either settle for whatever shit the radio feeds you, or be your own mp3 DJ. But, there are a few gems hidden among the midfield of filth that plagues our airwaves. One such gem is called The Bass Factor. Run on Hott 93 every Friday with DJs Alex The Executioner and Luvglo, the show promises an electrifying and unique experience where any listener can discover their next personal anthem.

The Bass Factor is a music segment that takes place on Hott 93 between 10 pm and 2 am. DJs Alex and Luvglo throw down a unique live mix blend of music that a real music lover can appreciate. However make no mistake, Alex does not call this an EDM show or consider themselves EDM DJs. His belief is that this is a limitation that will curb their creativity by locking them into a genre. The Bass Factor gives the DJs full creative liberty, so they can play what music they deem best for their fans. Though the majority of the show features every type of dance music expect to hear live fist pumping recreations of just about anything from rap to rock and soca.

Alex and Luvglo engineered the Bass Factor after its predecessor, Electrik Avenue formerly hosted by Toy Hydro. They share many of the traits found in the Electrik Avenue. The show aims not only to entertain but to educate. Luvglo and Alex sift through thousands of tracks every week to find and present the very best on the show. They are adamant about the educational aspects of music and believe that for music culture to change and for fans to gain a deeper appreciation for it, the fans need to hear variety and must be able to find the music they hear. They make their track listings available on their social media and are available should any fans wish to know more about the music played on the show. They go to the extent of taking requests on social media to be added live to the continuous mix. They want their fans not only to listen to the show but to be part of it.

Off the set Alex and Luvglo have plans for a series of underground DJ events. The events are aimed for the true fans of the music who are tired of the washed out main stream events that wrap themselves in the skin of dance music and label themselves as EDM. They wish to stay true to the mantra of peace love and unity and create an escape from the hidden politics that govern the mainstream concerts. Alex wants to make a space where every DJ can explore and present their creative talents to those who have the understanding and appreciation for music.
