Rock and Roll Excursion

Sunday March 31st 2014 the Lost Souls group held their Rock and Roll Excursion. Roughly 40 Rockaz boarded the Metal bus to party their way from Chaguanas to Salybia. Here are my thoughts on the trip.

Organization:- The organizers from the Lost Souls did a good job catering for the excursion.

The food was on point with curry chicken, curry duck, pealeau, stew chicken, paratha and real plenty mango / pommecythere chow. Drinks were ... Let's just say if you could not get a drink on this buss it's only because you were to drunk to find it. There were a lot of drinks.

...

The sound system was blearingly well done and the bus was quite comfortable however the excursion did start late because the bus was not on time.

Along the way there were many pit stops, bars, pee stops ... and more bars. Some pit stops may have been unnecessary considering the trip begun late.

Vibe:- There were some really great people on the trip, particularly the organizers. On the flip side there were also some … characters. Some people may have been … a little to enthusiastic almost to a disturbing point.

There was a little Holi session where the powder was used to … “brighten the place up” some may disagree but in my personal opinion, this was a nice touch.

The music choices … I believe left something to be desired. The music you could say was 90% death metal and the rest was heavy metal. I thought it was a rock and roll excursion … not a death metal excursion, so I was expecting some variety within the genre. I really am no big fan of death metal so to be honest the constant jarring tone of one genre became quite annoying with time. Thankfully on the home stretch the DJ switched things up with some disco … I did not know why, but I was glad for any kind of change in passe.

Destination:- Salybia, ugggh not my favorite beach ever. Salybia beach looks really nice at first glance until you get in the water. Rocks … rocks everywhere, it really is a task to bathe in Salybia’s waters. If the rocks are to much there is the river or the pond, however they are both laden with seaweed and it's highly recommended you don’t get any of that water in your mouth.

The alternative would be to stay on the sand and bathe in the sun … if that’s your thing then Salybia may be a great option.

Overall it was a unique and memorable experience. I hope the Lost Souls team continues to have and improve on rock and roll excursions.
