CDM Free Up - Review

August 8th 2013th the CDM Generation crew set up for a smashing show at O2 Park Chaguaramas as a companion event to their CDMC (Caribbean Dance Music Conference) aimed at improving the music industry in T&T on Friday and The Launch at Aria. More about the CDMC here.

Have a look at some of the action from The Launch at Aria here

This event dubbed "Free Up" cooler fete served up several local and international top Dj's. From our own System 32, Jerry West and Colony to KickRaux, and Jack Novak to name a few. Alongside them were surprise performances by artistes such as Olatunji and Maximus Dan/Mx Prime. Kick Raux for lack of a better word "mash up" as he threw out a new unreleased tune "Ganga Man".

All your favorite EDM players made themselves known from GlowTT with some high energy glow stick action, Plur Islands, EDM Revolution, Mermaid Designs and of course yours truly REDM. Before you get the wrong idea thinking CDM = EDM let's take a minute to explain. CDM refers to Caribbean Dance Music. This was not a pure EDM event. There was a well-blended mixture of primarily EDM, Dance hall, Soca and Rap. All of which are dance music, staying true to the theme of CDM.

Members of CDM Generation had a hand in pulling off most of our recent major mainstream EDM events such as TT LIC 2014/2015 and Sunset Festival so this event shared many traits similar to those. Top Dj's excellent light work and set up and a lot of pure vibe on a $250.00 ticket for not one but two events attached to the noble cause of the aforementioned "CDM Conference". Pretty damn good rite? The one missing element was one that plagues EDM and EDM related events in T&T. Where was the support of the countless "ravers" that were at LIC and Sunset Festival?

We understand that this is a new event without the repertoire that comes with LIC or the raw star power of Skrillex, Diplo and Major Lazer. It's a "baby event" that with the dedication of its excellent team will grow into a favorite in the coming future. Seeing a young group such as this one take up such a revolutionary mantle in developing the music industry is inspiring to say the least. Team REDM salutes CDM Generation at they push forward into their next venture.
